Location: Erevan Quartier, Cotonou, and Urban Areas Throughout Benin
Event: There is an increased police and military presence in the Erevan Quartier of Cotonou, which may cause sporadic road closures and access restrictions over the next few days. Demonstrations may occur throughout Benin without little or no advance notice and may vary in size and purpose.
Actions to Consider:
- Reconsider travel and activities in cities and urban areas throughout Benin.
- Avoid demonstrations and large crowds.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Monitor local media for updates.
- Carry proper identification, including a U.S. passport with a current Beninese visa.
- Review your personal security plans.
- Wear a mask when in public spaces to protect yourself and others from the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
