Ambassador Raynor Inaugurates Special Self-Help Fund Projects

Ambassador Raynor traveled to northern Benin to inaugurate several projects funded through the Ambassador’s Special Self-Help Fund. Through this grass-roots program, the U.S. Embassy is able to respond quickly to the needs and requests of local communities for development projects that will have an immediate impact. Inaugurations included rice shellers in Malanville and Djidja, food processing equipment for women’s groups in Sinendé, and moringa leaf processing equipment in Bohicon. These projects will empower local producers to not only provide nourishment to themselves and their communities, but will also create an opportunity to generate income that can be reinvested back into each community.
